Effects of amino acids and spermidine on somatic embryogenesis of Jatropha curcas L.

Abstract


In Vietnam, the somatic embryogenesis method was applied successfully on Jatropha curcas L., in this study, the effect of amino acids and spermidine on somatic embryogenesis of Jatropha curcas is reported. Some of amino acids and spermidine with different concentrations [proline (0; 250; 500; 750; 1000 mg.l-1); glutamine (0; 50; 100; 150; 200 mg.l-1); adenine sulphate (0; 50; 100; 150; 200 mg.l-1; spermidine (0; 0.01; 0.03; 0.05; 0.08 mg.l-1)] were supplied individually on culture medium to examine somatic embryogenesis from callus. The results from our study showed that amino acids [proline (750 mg.l-1); glutamine (150 mg.l-1); adenine sulphate (150 mg.l-1)] and spermidine (0.03 mg.l-1) increased somatic embryos formation of Jatropha curcas.
