Genetic relationships of vietnamese wild boars accessed by mitochondrial D-loop region
Abstract
Mitochondrial DNA has been used to analyze phylogenetics of wild boars. In this study, mitochondrial
D-loop region sequences were used to access the polymorphism and phylogenetic relationship among Vietnamese wild boars and other Asian wild boars. The variable positions in D-Loop region and genetic relationship analyses revealed that the wild boar populations included not only the Vietnamese native wild boars but also the crossbred wild boars (hybridization of Thailand wild boars and Vietnamese native wild boars). Three polymorphic positions were newly found in Vietnamese native wild boars. Seven variable sites of Thailand wild boar samples were found in the crossbred wild boar. The phylogenetic tree showed that most of the crossbred wild boars had a close genetic relationship to Thailand wild boars, especially wild boars from the Thailand Sansai area. The Vietnamese native wild boars from Bidoup-Nui Ba national park and Tanh Linh forest were genetically similar and clustered in one clade. The Vietnamese native wild boars were genetically distinct from the other wild boars such as Korean wild boars, Thailand wild boars and Indonesian wild boars as shown by large genetic distances.
